Tell me, do you ever have the feeling that someone is going to call you out for being a fraud? An imposter? That they will think you don’t know as much as you say you do and you’re not the expert you claim to be.
Trust me, I get it. I’ve been there.
Imposter syndrome comes up a lot in my line of work, mainly because the women that I work with are amazing heart-centered, passion-fueled healers, wellness entrepreneurs, and women in business who care.
This is something that often creeps up when you want to help as many people as possible to the highest degree, and you worry what you have to give is not enough. And while a small dose of imposter syndrome is healthy, you also have to learn to manage and break through it so it doesn’t hold you back from the massive impact you were born for!
Here are some key concepts to understand and tools you can utilize to move through:
Step 1: Recognize your worth
You need to trust yourself and know your worth first. This may be a little harder than you expect at first. I want you to recognize that you are an amazing woman who cares about your clients, what you teach, and their transformation. When you see all of that, you will no longer look for external validation, which is powerful!
Step 2: Take action
Action is the ultimate antidote to imposter syndrome. When we can move out of the self-destructive thought loop and take action, we can create new patterns and ways of thinking. We’re also able to get the results that confirm that we can overcome the challenges of self-doubt and destructive thoughts.
Step 3: Let go of perfectionism.
Remember that failure is a normal part of the process, so don’t be afraid to fail. Don’t be scared to share your failures, how you moved through them, and what you learned from them because it could help someone. Often, that can be such a source of power for us, especially in the coaching industry. So often, imposter syndrome comes from unworthiness or feeling like we should be further ahead.
So celebrate each success as you hit it. Own exactly where you are in your unique journey, and learn to love the process at every step. And know that you are NOT an imposter. You are everything you claim to be and more. Continue on and never forget that.
You’ve got this!
